  1. The Mafia demo contains a single mission taken from the full game. The first time the demo is run you will need to configure the game settings, after saving and exiting run the demo from the desktop shortcut or Start Menu.

  43. If you are experiencing any lack of performance in the way the game runs
  44. it is recommended that the level of details are lowered in the in game
  45. options as described in the manual.

  47. To also help improve performance these options can be enabled in the
  48. Mafia Setup options which may improve performance:

  50. > Disable the Truecolour Texture Quality/Size if selected.
  51. > Disable Software Mixing Only
  52. > Disable Fullscene Antialiasing
  53. > Disable the Clip Always Option
  54. > Enable Hardware Transform and Lighting

  56. To run the Setup select the option from the Windows Start Menu
  57. Programs\Mafia\Setup and select Open expert settings for more options.
  58. When an option is pressed and highlighted it is Enabled.

  66. If you are experiencing problems with the sound in the game, please
  67. ensure that you have the latest drivers for the make and model of
  68. your sound card and that the drivers are DirectX 8.1 certified.
  69. Mafia may not support some makes and models of sound card.

  71. If you experience any stuttering or distortion when sounds or music is
  72. playing ensure that these have been selected in the Mafia Setup options:

  75. > Enable Software Mixing Only

  89. your graphics card and that the drivers are DirectX 8.1 certified.

  100. The Texture Quality/Size option selected in the setup is related to the
  101. amount of video memory and resources your PC may have. If for any reason
  102. you experience problems with the graphics in the game ensure that:

  104. > Disable the Truecolour Texture Quality/Size if selected.
  105. > Ensure that the Compressed Texture Quality/Size is enabled.

  107. Other options:
  108.  
  109. > Reduce the resolution that the game is running in.
  110. > Run the game in Full Screen mode, not in a Window.
  111. > Disable Triple Buffering when running in Full Screen Mode.
  112. > Use 16 bit colours rather than 32 bit when in Full Screen Mode.

  114. If for any reason you experience any distortion in the graphics:

  116. > Enable the Vertical Synch option.
  117. > Enable the Clip Always option (This is strongly recommended if you
  118.   have an ATI video card.
