  7. Signs and symptoms of this dangerous condition which can become
  8. life-threatening are: shivering, dizziness, numbness, confusion,
  9. weakness, impaired judgement, impaired vision and drowsiness.
  10.  
  11. Hypothermia victims pass through 5 stages, with each stage more
  12. serious and leading to death!

  14.               STAGE 1      SHIVERING
  15.  
  16.               STAGE 2      APATHY
  17.  
  18.               STAGE 3      LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS
  19.  
  20.               STAGE 4      DECREASING PULSE AND BREATHING RATE
  21.  
  22.               STAGE 5      DEATH
  23.  
  24. FIRST AID
  25.  
  26. Seek professional help. Get victim out of the cold and into dry
  27. clothing. Warm the body SLOWLY! Give nothing to eat or drink unless
  28. victim is FULLY CONSCIOUS!

  30. If trained, monitor airway, breathing & circulation.
