  3. Yugoslavia has been divided.
  4.

  6.                    CHANGES TO WORLD29 VER 2.9D1
  7.  
  8. The 15 former republics of the USSR are now independent countries.
  9.    The location file USSR.LOC includes the location of cities throughout the 
  10.    former republics.
  11.       The dynamics of the war in Yugoslavia preclude changes at this time. 
  12.    If you are interested in what is where in Yugoslavia please get my 
  13.    supplemental files YUGO29. WORLD29 now makes it easy to use a variety of 
  14.    overlays and location files.

  16. GRAPHICS provided with DOS 4.01 or later supports WORLD29 EGA/VGA mode SCREEN 
  17. Printing.

  20. CHANGES IN OPTION 7: see page 22 in WORLD.DOC

  22.       Now supports LOCation files of over 1000 names. Paging is now handled 
  23. with the letter M (for More). This provides access to LOCation 999 as well as 
  24. all others. The display has been adjusted for proper display of up to 9,900 
  25. locations.

  27.       You can page back and forth in the file using the "+" sign before a 
  28. number. For example if you are on the page displaying LOCation 121 through 
  29. 180. You know the LOCation you are interested must be a long way from where 
  30. you are. Instead of repeatedly typing M ENTER, M ENTER, etc. type +1000. If 
  31. possible WORLD29 will jump to the page containing LOCation number 1000. If 
  32. you jump too far you can jump back with a +900.

  36. HEMISPHERIC DISPLAY: see page 16 in WORLD.DOC

  38.       Option 3 now has preset hemispheric displays for rapid access to 
  39. displays of the hemispheres.

  44.         The first change you will notice is there is an additional question 
  45. on the opening screen.  After answereing the "OVERLAY to use?" you will be 
  46. asked for a "Location file to use?".  These options allow you to take 
  47. advantage of my HOTSPOT packages such as GULF29 (Iraq & Kuwait) and YUGO29 
  48. (Yugoslavia) and to use the new USSR.LOC and USSR.DAT files.

  52. NEW MAIN MENU OPTION:
  53.  
  54.         Option "14. Restart the program " has been added for your 
  55. convenience. Selecting this option sends you back to the opening questions to 
  56. enable you to change OVERLAY and LOCATION files without ending the program 
  57. and restarting it.

  60. NEW NAME DISPLAY REQUESTOR: see page 8,9 in WORLD.DOC

  62.         For mercator type displays a new request screen has been supplied to 
  63. make it easier to select the combination of names to be displayed. The screen 
  64. looks like this:

  66.             1=level 1 only
  67.             5=level 5 only
  68.             A= accumulate level + lower levels eg. A5
  69.             NAMES= only locations with xxxxx in them
  70.             Y or ENTER= only Capital cities
  71.             N= no locations

  74.             Do you want City names [Y]NA(1-5)?

  76.         NAMES= only locations with xxxx in them - is used only after a search 
  77. for a city name (OPTION 4 on the main menu).  The xxxxx will be replaced by 
  78. what you searched for. 
  79.          eg. You used option 4 to search for SAN. The program answers with 
  80. SANTA FE, NM. When asked if you want City names you answer with NAMES. Select 
  81. a scale of 1, 2, or 3. You will see the mark for SANTA FE and you will see 
  82. some other marks in TEXAS. THESE are the locations from your location file 
  83.  
  84. which have the letter SAN in their name. (using scale one you will also see 
  85. marks at SAN FRANCISCO, SAN DIEGO, and CABO SAN LUCAS if using the CUSTOM.LOC 
  86. file that comes with WORLD29).

  88. NOTE: THE FOLLOWING is an option only available with EGA and VGA systems - it 
  89. will NOT work with CGA or MONOCHROME systems due to video memory limitaions.

  91.         With an EGA or VGA system, and WORLD29 properly configured, you can 
  92. type the letter F (which stands for FLIP) and hit enter to see a listing of 
  93. the names of these locations along with a symbol which may help you in 
  94. identifying the individual locations. After viewing the list you will be 
  95. FLIPed back to the map. To flip back to the list re-enter another F and hit 
  96. enter. You can repeat the process as many times as you wish. When you want to 
  97. continue simply hit the enter key.

  99. NOTE: THE ABOVE is an option only available with EGA and VGA systems!

  101.         Entering a Y or just hitting enter at the "Do you want Cities ..." 
  102. prompt will display any capital cities on the display. NOTICE the Y is in 
  103. square brackets since this is the default response.
  104.         Entering a N indicates that you want NO names to be printed on the 
  105. display.

  108. OTHER CANGES:

  110.         There are a number of other changes to make the program function 
  111. better and to provide you with better displays. Most of this will remain 
  112. hidden to the casual user and only be observed by the most ardent users of 
  113. WORLD29.

  116. PLEASE READ WORLD.DOC! These notes only cover the most recent changes to a 
  117. very complex program which is designed to be used by everyone from novice to 
  118. geographer.
