SHAREWARE INFORMATION
This version of Kana Sensei is SHAREWARE. What this statement means
is this:
- This program is copyrighted (it is not free and not public domain)
- You are encouraged to distribute this program freely and use it on
a trial basis.
- If you use this program regularly, you are required to register its
use by sending a small donation to the author, namely, me.
- This program may not be sold for commercial profit but a nominal
fee may be charged for its distribution.
PROGRAM REGISTRATION
Of course, most Shareware authors realize that they must provide some
sort of incentive for users to register. The obvious solution is to handicap
the program in some way so that users will want the fully implemented version.
For example, I could have made Kana Sensei so that new quizzes couldn't be
written and saved.
I have not chosen to do this, however. You are welcome to use this
program and the included (first-year level) quizzes as is, but, I am in the
process of enhancing Kana Sensei in one important way that most students of
Japanese will appreciate. I am currently creating the font files that
will allow the use of KANJI in quizzes. I am rather excited about this
eventuality because it will have a vast impact on my own studies. Once this
is done, the entire Japanese writing system will be contained. (Note: this
this won't be for a while; drawing 1850 kanji characters with a mouse is not
an overnight task).
In addition, I have created and am creating more regular quizzes
(using hiragana/katakana) which encompass 2nd, 3rd, and 4th term material.
These quizzes include many different sentence patterns and grammatical forms
such as: gerunds (Please eat // I am eating), potential verbs (I can eat)
conditional verbs (When I ate, I got sick // If I had studied, I would have
passed), provisional verbs (If you want to go, then I'll drive), the use of
hoshii (I want you to drink beer), the use of tsumori (I intend to go to
Tokyo), and so on. Of course, you are free to create such quizzes on your own
but obtaining mine will save you much labor, especially if your typing skills
are not the best.
So, anyway, here's the deal:
- For a donation of at least $5 I will put you on my mailing list so
that I can afford to inform you as new kanji sets and program
enhancements become available. Subsequent kanji sets and quizzes
will be available at a reasonable price (which hasn't been determined).
- For a donation of at least $15 you will receive the most current
version of Kana Sensei, all of my hiragana and katakana quizzes (such
as those mentioned above), as well as the first kanji set of 50
characters and its related quizzes. Of course, you will also be
placed on my mailing list.
To Register:
- Simply send your donation with Mike Chachich / KS
return address and preferred disk P.O. Box 290-232
media (5¼" or 3½") to: Waterford, MI 48329
(If your mailing address is not in
the U.S. please send an additional, appropriate amount to
cover the mailing costs)
NOTE: IF THIS FILE (ks_share.doc) IS MISSING OR ALTERED KS WILL
NOT EXECUTE SO MAKE A BACKUP OF THIS DISK IN CASE ANY FILES
BECOME CORRUPTED.
