  44.         This file explains how to setup and to configure the ELSA
  45.         Windows NT driver software for your graphics board.

  57.         The directory with the ELSA graphics driver for Windows NT
  58.         contains the following files:

  85.  
  86.         NOTE: This driver was designed for full functionality under
  87.               Windows NT 4.0 only!
  88.  
  89.         It is possible to install the driver on three different 
  90.         ways: 
  91.  
  92.         - Using the dialog "Display Properties"               (3.1)
  93.         - If installing Windows NT                            (3.2)
  94.         - Using the selfinstalling Setup.exe                  (3.3)

  97. 3.1     Installation of the ELSA graphics driver
  98.  
  99.         NOTE: First install the Standard-VGA driver, then shut down
  100.               your computer and exchange the graphics board with
  101.               the ERAZOR II.
  102.  
  103.         In the Taskbar/Start/Settings, click on "Control Panel" and
  104.         then select "Display Properties". Alternatively, you can
  105.         right-click the desktop and in the appearing popup menu,
  106.         select "Properties". Select "Settings" and then "Display
  107.         Type". In the upcoming window you can use the "Change"
  108.         button to select your ELSA graphics board. You will get the
  109.         "Change Display" dialog box with a variety of available
  110.         drivers.
  111.  
  112.         On the lower right-hand of the dialog box select the button
  113.         "Other...". The dialog "Install from disk" appears with an
  114.         indication of path or floppy drive ("A:\"). Change the
  115.         entry to the path where the driver files for your board are
  116.         located (e.g."\GLoria\Synergy\WINNT40") and confirm with
  117.         "Continue". Now a list of ELSA graphics drivers is
  118.         displayed. Select the driver for your board. Confirm the
  119.         dialog. The driver is installed after confirming the
  120.         warning that a third-party driver will be installed.
  121.  
  122.         NOTE: Under Windows NT 4.0, graphics drivers cannot be
  123.               loaded dynamically. This is a limitation of the
  124.               operating system.
  125.  
  126.         To activate the ELSA driver the computer has to be
  127.         restarted. Please press >>Yes<< in the relevant dialog.
  128.         The system will reboot and the initial installation is
  129.         finished.
  130.  
  131.         The initial installation of ELSA drivers for Microsoft
  132.         Windows NT 4.0 installs the driver in a resolution of
  133.         640*480 pixel at 60Hz refresh.
  134.  
  135.         NOTE:   With the installation of the Windows NT 4.0 driver,
  136.                 the ELSA OpenGL driver is automatically installed.

  138. 3.2     Making Installation Disks
  139.  
  140.         To create installation disks for the ELSA graphics driver
  141.         you will need an empty floppy disk labeled 
  142.         "ELSA Windows NT 4.0 DISK 1".
  143.         Copy the files from the according graphics board directory
  144.         on the driver CD-ROM to the prepared disk.
  145.                 
  146. 3.3     Automatically installation procedure using Setup.exe
  147.         
  148.         You have to select the graphicsadapterｴs driver location 
  149.         and start the Setup.exe. Please answer all the questions 
  150.         made by this tool and restart Windows NT after this 
  151.         procedure to activate the driver.

  155. 3.4     Testing the Installation and Determining the Driver Version
  156.         Number

  158. 3.4.1   Testing the Installation
  159.  
  160.         From the Start menu, select "Settings" and in the Control
  161.         Panel launch "Display". Select the tab "Settings" and then
  162.         the button "Change configuration...". The following dialog
  163.         gives information about the manufacturer, the version
  164.         number and the current driver files.
  165.  
  166.         NOTE:   If you see "Version Information missing ", you did
  167.                 not set US English as the system language. This
  168.                 problem will appear in all non-American NT
  169.                 installations. This is a limitation of the
  170.                 operating system.

  175. 4       Known Problems
  176.  
  177.  
  178.         - If you do not have installed the Service Pack 3
  179.           (or higher) for NT4, AGP display cards only run in
  180.           standard VGA mode. Please install a service pack 3 or 
  181.           higher to fix this problem!
  182.  
  183.         - If you own a multi processor board with BX- GX-
  184.           or newer chipset you have to install the Service 
  185.           Pack 4. Otherwise the system will not work correctly.
  186.           You will find both service packs on this WINERWare CD.   
  187.  
  188.         - The display driver is installed successfully, but after
  189.           rebooting the system the driver is not activated.
  190.           Your graphics board requires an IRQ. Please assign a 
  191.           unique IRQ to the slot which is related to your graphics
  192.           board. Information about how to do this you will find
  193.           in the manual, delivered with your systems mainboard.
  194.       
  195.         - Video playback may result in pixel errors. 
  196.           Please install the Intel Indeo 5 video codec.
  197.  
  198.         - If the ELSA PCI graphics board is not recognized, try 
  199.           another PCI slot. Some mainboards have PCI slots 
  200.           which are not PCI compliant.
  201.  
  202.         - There are some problems reported in combination with 
  203.           mainboards using ALi chipsets together with AMD K6-2 
  204.           CPUs. Please contact the manufacturer of your mainboard
  205.           to get more information about this.
