  6. This document contains information about EarthTime Plug-in for 
  7. Netscape Navigator 2.0.  Please read through this document carefully.

  27. *  Personal Computer running Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows NT 3.51
  28.    or later
  29. *  1 MB free disk space on the disk drive where Netscape Navigator
  30.    2.0 is installed.
  31. *  1 MB additional free disk space on the disk drive where Microsoft
  32.    Windows is installed, to be used temporarily by the Install
  33.    program.

  38. 2. Installation
  39. ===============

  41. 1. Make sure that the Netscape Navigator 2.0 is NOT running.
  42.  
  43. 2. Find SETUP.EXE in Windows Explorer or the File Manager, and
  44. double-click it to run it.  Doing this unpacks the program files and
  45. launches the Setup program, which installs EarthTime Plug-in and then
  46. deletes the temporary files it created.
  47.  
  48. 3. Follow the step-by-step prompts until the finish.

  50. Installation creates a shortcut on your desktop called EarthTime
  51. Plug-in.
  52.  
  53. NOTE: Running Internet Time Synchronizer on Windows 95 requires that
  54. you have installed TCP/IP and Dial Up Networking.

  58. 3. Starting EarthTime 
  59. =====================

  61. After installation, double-click the desktop icon labeled EarthTime
  62. Plug-in, or choose EarthTime Plug-in from the Windows 95 Start 
  63. Menu | Programs | EarthTime Plug-in. In Windows NT, find the
  64. EarthTime Plug-in icon in the EarthTime program group, and
  65. double-click it.

  67. The first time you run EarthTime Plug-in, you see the Settings
  68. dialog, where you identify your Home City (where you live) and your
  69. current Local City (where you are now located -- often the same as
  70. your Home City). These cities will appear in the EarthTime display
  71. with icons identifying them as Home and Local cities.  
  72.  
  73. EarthTime assumes your current system time is correct for the
  74. Local City you select, and that you have selected the correct time
  75. zone in the Windows 95 Date/Time Control Panel.

  77. We recommend launching only one instance of EarthTime Plug-in at a
  78. time.

  80. To view a description of the EarthTime Plug-in, open the Windows 95
  81. Start Menu and choose Programs | EarthTime Plug-in | EarthTime
  82. Introduction. You will see a document that describes the EarthTime
  83. Plug-in and provides a hotlink to launch it.

  85. There are two additional ways you can launch EarthTime from Netscape
  86. Navigator 2.0:
  87.  
  88. *  Choose File | Open File.  In the Files Of Type list box, choose 
  89. EarthTime (*.ETC).  Open the file called EARTHTIM.ETC, which is
  90. located in the folder called
  91. Program Files\Netscape\Navigator\Program\Plugins\EarthTime.
  92.  
  93. *  Choose File | Open File. In the Files Of Type list box, choose 
  94. Source (*.htm).  Choose the EARTHTIM.HTM file, located in the folder
  95. called Program Files\Netscape\Navigator\Program\Plugins\EarthTime.
  96. You will see a document that includes a link to launch EarthTime.

  98. NOTE: If you attempt any of these steps to launch EarthTime and you 
  99. end up viewing the EARTHTIM.ETC document, it means that Netscape was
  100. running when you installed EarthTime. To solve the problem, simply
  101. shut down the Netscape Navigator, and restart the EarthTime Plug-in.

  105. 4. Summary of Features
  106. ======================
  107.  
  108. EarthTime Plug-in for Netscape Navigator 2.0 lets you monitor time in
  109. eight world cities simultaneously. It also includes a US - SI
  110. (metric) conversion utility, and a Time Synchronizer that updates
  111. your system clock from Internet timer servers. The online help
  112. describes the program features and explains how to use them. To see
  113. the online help, right-click a city panel and choose Help from the
  114. menu.  The online Help also includes frequently asked questions, with
  115. answers.

  117. NOTES: 
  118.  
  119. 1. Internet Time Synchronizer is not supported by Windows NT 3.51,
  120. which does not include software libraries required to run Internet
  121. Time Synchronizer.
  122.  
  123. 2. Display of graphic images, including some EarthTime Help topics,
  124. can cause the EarthTime display to flash if you are using a 256-color
  125. video driver.  For more information, refer to the Navigator Help
  126. system:  click the Help menu at the top of the Navigator window,
  127. choose Release Notes, and click Known Problems and Bugs.

  129. 3. Changing Local City under Windows NT 3.51: After changing the
  130. Local City, you need to specify the time zone, as explained in the
  131. online Help.  If you are using Windows NT 3.51, the Control Panel
  132. window opens.  Double-click the Date/Time icon, and choose the
  133. appropriate time zone from the drop-down list.

  145. In the Start Menu | Programs | EarthTime Plug-in, click the Uninstall
  146. icon.
