QFE Fix for Microsoft Personal Web Server
A previous version of the Microsoft Personal Web Server included in the public beta
of FrontPage 97 and previously available for download from WWW.Microsoft.Com was
designed to run only on a newer version of Windows 95 shipped
by computer manufacturers. Thus, if you have loaded that version of the Microsoft
Personal Web Server on your regular Win95 machine, an incompatibility
arises when you try to drag and drop, resulting in a crash. The QFE fix will
check your operating system version and the version of the relevant file
(RPCRT4.DLL) to determine if an incorrect Win 95 language or an incorrect
version of the DLL has been installed on your machine. If it detects an error,
the QFE fix will correct the problem. If an error is not present, you will
receive a message that the QFE fix is not necessary.
Double-click the file pwsfix1.exe in this folder to run the QFE fix.
Although the version of the Microsoft Personal Web Server on this CD no longer has this problem,
installing it will not fix the problem if you installed the previous version. Therefore,
you should run the QFE fix if you've previously installed versions of Microsoft Personal Web
Server from other sources to make sure you have the fix.
