  17. 1) INTRODUCTION
  18.  
  19. IconTweaker is a freeware application that allows you to customize all your Windows icons.
  20.  
  21. Icons are one of main parts of the Windows interface. Customizing them can make your desktop
  22. look better and can also improve the usability, because you can make it easier to recognize items.
  23.  
  24. Using the IconTweaker theme system, designers can share their icons with other people. IconTweaker
  25. has an open XML-based theme format that can be extended using plug-ins. If you created an
  26. IconTweaker theme for your icons, you can be sure they can be used by everyone.

  28. Many themes with beautiful icons are already included and ready to use.

  30. 2) SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  31.  
  32. Required:

  34. * Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP
  35. * 12 MB free disk space (depends on installed system files)
  36. * 12 MB of additional temporary disk space during the installation
  37.   
  38. Recommanded:

  40. * Pentium class processor or greater
  41. * 32 MB RAM or greater
  42. * Display color depth of 16 bit or greater

  48. You should install Internet Explorer 4 or later for a proper diplay of the IconTweaker HTML
  49. Help. The Desktop Update of Internet Explorer 4/4.01 (Shell version 4.71/4.72) is required
  50. to change individual folder or drive icons (Internet Explorer 5 and later do not install it).

  52. Internet Explorer 4 and 5 are no longer available for download at the Microsoft site, so you
  53. will have to find these applications somewhere else.

  55. Windows XP:
  56.  
  57. In order to change individual drive icons, you should install Service Pack 1 or later.
  58. You can get the latest Windows XP Service Pack at http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/

  60. 3) INSTALL
  61.  
  62. You only have to start the file you downloaded (usually called IconTweaker.exe) and follow
  63. the wizard on the screen.

  65. 4) UNINSTALL
  66.  
  67. The IconTweaker uninstaller allows you to remove IconTweaker or certain IconTweaker components
  68. from your system.
  69.  
  70. If you also want to remove all IconTweaker themes, please make sure that you are not using
  71. them anymore. If you delete themes which are in use, Windows will not display your customized
  72. icons and images anymore.

  74. To uninstall IconTweaker:

  76. * Click on the Start button
  77. * Go to Settings > Control Panel
  78. * Click on Add/Remove Programs
  79. * Select IconTweaker from the list
  80. * Click Remove
  81. * Follow the wizard on the screen
