  22.     Windows 3.1, windows compatible PC computer, windows compatible
  23.     VGA display with 640x480 resolution or higher, 3 Meg RAM, 
  24.     3 Meg free on hard disk.

  26.     YOU MUST BE RUNNING WINDOWS IN 386 ENHANCED MODE. Do not start 
  27.     Windows with the /S or /R switches. See your Windows Manual for 
  28.     more information on startup memory modes.

  37. LATEST VERSION:

  39.     Your copy of our baccarat game for Windows may not be the latest
  40.     version    currently available. We are constantly updating, improving, 
  41.     and fixing bugs in this program. Therefore, you should check the 
  42.     Windows Fun Forum on CompuServe for the latest version or call our
  43.     BBS System.

  45. INSTALLATION:
  46. =============
  47.     To install this game from the distribution diskette, simply 
  48.     copy the file "BACCARAT.ZIP" to the desired directory ("\BACCARAT" 
  49.     suggested) on your hard disk and unzip the file with the latest
  50.     version of PKUNZIP. 
  51.  
  52.     Next, run the program called BACCLOAD.EXE. This is a self-installing
  53.     packed file and running it will unpack and install all the needed 
  54.     files and programs. Once the self-install process is complete, the
  55.     files BACCLOAD.EXE and BACCARAT.ZIP can be removed. However, you 
  56.     should always retain copies of these files on diskette or tape 
  57.     just in case you need to reinstall them in the future. 
  58.  
  59.     If a message appears asking you whether or not you wish to replace
  60.     an existing file in the BACCARAT directory, answer with a "Y". DO
  61.     NOT USE    OLD FILES WITH A NEW VERSION - FATAL ERRORS WILL RESULT.
  62.  
  63.     NOTE: After the installation process is complete, the install
  64.     program will try to run the game program automatically. This 
  65.     should be successful providing the install process was completed
  66.     and Windows could find a valid copy of the VBRUN300.DLL file in
  67.     the BACCARAT directory or in the common WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. 
  68.  
  69.     To start the game manually, run the file BACCARAT.EXE from Windows
  70.     File Manager or click on the BACCARAT icon installed into the GAMES
  71.     Program Group (or the program group you selected).
  72.  
  73.     NOTE: Be sure you are running Windows Version 3.1 or higher and you
  74.     are running Windows in "386 Enhanced Mode" (not Standard Mode). Check
  75.     your \WINDOWS directory    and see if you have a WIN.BAT file. 
  76.  
  77.     Be sure the WIN.COM or WIN command in the batch file DOES NOT 
  78.     include the /S switch. This causes Windows to start in Standard
  79.     Mode. Be sure the command is followed by blanks or /E to insure 
  80.     you start in Enhanced Mode. Otherwise, this game may not operate
  81.     correctly. If you cannot see the 386 Enhanced Program Item 
  82.     (icon = computer chip) on the Windows Control Panel, then you 
  83.     are not running Windows in the Enhanced Mode.

  85.     Please see your Windows Users Manual for more information.

  87.     Also, once you are running Windows in 386 Enhanced Mode, you should
  88.     set up as large a Permanent Swap File (not Temporary) as Windows 
  89.     will allow.

  91.     This allows Windows to use free disk space as computer memory & it 
  92.     will allow you to run bigger programs. This is done from Windows 
  93.     Control Panel with the 386 Enhanced Icon.
  94.  
  95.     This program was written in Visual Basic V3.0 & REQUIRES the Visual 
  96.     Basic V3.0 Runtime Library file called VBRUN300.DLL (included). Be
  97.     sure this file is located in the same directory where you loaded &
  98.     unzipped BACCARAT.EXE.
  99.  
  100.     NOTE: Occasionally, Microsoft will release an updated VBRUN300.DLL
  101.     file which will correct some bugs in their runtime modules. You 
  102.     should periodically compare the date/time/size of this file to the
  103.     latest one available on CompuServe in the Microsoft MBASIC+ Forum. 
  104.     If a later one is released, please download it and place it in the 
  105.     BACCARAT directory. This game will use it automatically from then on.
  106.  
  107. ERRORS AT STARTUP:
  108. ==================
  109.     If you encounter either of the following two errors at startup:
  110.  
  111.         1) "OVERFLOW"
  112.         2) "Invalid Control Index"
  113.  
  114.     then the startup program files (BACCARAT.DEF and/or BACCARAT.SAV)
  115.     may be corrupted or may be the wrong version. Try renaming these
  116.     files to something else and restarting the program. The game will
  117.     then use its own internal game settings since it will not be able
  118.     to find these files. 
  119.  
  120.     You should first try renaming the BACCARAT.DEF and restarting the
  121.     game. 99% of the time this file is causing the problem.
  122.  
  123.     If you still have problems after trying this procedure, please
  124.     contact technical support or call our BBS to get the latest version.
