  4. This archive contains the files:
  5.  
  6.         RULER_3.STW     and     RULER_9.STW
  7.  
  8. These are two transparent rulers for use in AtariWorks as aids in
  9. page layout. RULER_3.STW was designed for use on the hi-res screen
  10. with monochrome monitor. RULER_9.STW assumes the use of 1" upper and
  11. lower page margins and permits placement of text and graphics without
  12. guesswork as to vertical positioning.
  13.  
  14. Accurate vertical positioning of text may be accomplished by typing
  15. the text in the approximate position you want then positioning the
  16. cursor on the line ABOVE the text. Type a single character then
  17. select Fonts under the Options menu and set the point size larger to
  18. move the text down or smaller to move the text up. Remember that
  19. point size includes spacing between lines, i.e. 12pt type is 1/6"
  20. high PLUS 3pt spacing (more properly known as "leading"). For 1/4"
  21. spacing try 9pt type with a spacing of -3. Don't forget to delete the
  22. "sizing" character afterwards.

  24. Try to do your editing in a "top to bottom" sequence since changing
  25. point size expands or contracts your page vertically with reference
  26. to the top of the page.

  28. I recommend that you keep a backup copy of these rulers in case you
  29. ever inadvertently grab one by a sizing handle and distort it.
