  1.                    Two Column Printing in Atari Works:
  2.                       Make Use of Your Technology!

  8. If you use Atari Works and are printing with a DeskJet or Bubble Jet, you 
  9. have two technologies of which to take advantage.
  10.  
  11. 1.  Atari Works is DTP accurate in laying out a page, but does not have a 
  12. two column feature.
  13.  
  14. 2.  Atari Works supports multiple windows.
  15.  
  16. 3.  Your  ink  jet or bubble jet printer is  color  separation  accurate 
  17. relative to reloading a page and printing it again (twice).
  18.  
  19. So,  by  using two Atari Works documents,  one for the left column and  a 
  20. second for the right column,  you can simply print the left side, reload, 
  21. and print the right side, correct?
  22.  
  23. You bet. The two .STW Atari Works documents provided:
  24.  
  25.       LEFT.STW  -- prints the left sides and headlines
  26.      RIGHT.STW  -- prints the right sides and "footer headlines"
  27.  
  28. Load both documents into Works,  and print LEFT.STW. You'll get two pages 
  29. printed with headlines and the left sides of the pages only.

  31. Next,  reload the two sheets:  on the Deskjet,  SIMPLY TURN THEM OVER  AS 
  32. THEY LAY IN THE OUTPUT TRAY.  THE INK SIDE IS DOWN, AND THE TOPS OF PAGES 
  33. FACE  THE GRAB ROLLERS  AS YOU PLACE THEM INTO THE FEED TRAY.  THE  FIRST 
  34. PAGE  TO  BE LOADED SHOULD READ "UNLIMITED FLEXIBLE COLUMNS" ON  THE  INK 
  35. SIDE.

  37. AFTER  RELOADING THE PAGES:  Just select the window  for  RIGHT.STW,  and 
  38. print the right side. It's very easy once you know how.

  40. If  you  have any problems,  check your page setup.  The page  is  letter 
  41. size,  and the document margins should be TOP: .67 inches and the bottom, 
  42. left and right sides,  .5 inches. That's because some DeskJets just can't 
  43. print a half inch from the top of a page.

  45. The two pages outline a lot of the "how-to" of two column printing:
  46.      * with full justification control within a column
  47.      * with multiple fonts/font heights supported
  48.      * with graphics supported within the column
  49.      * with spreadsheet cell importation supported
  50.      * with full width, 2-column wide headlines
