  1.    THE LIGHTNINGS: THE STORY!

  7. Well, Def Klf asked me to write about
  8. us so here we go...
  9.

  11. In June 90, a lamer called 'TLS'  asked
  12. one of his best contact : 'Starman'  if
  13. he would like to form a group with him.
  14. And the group was born : The Lightnings
  15.  
  16. ] At this time,Starman was coding in Gfa
  17. ]basic.  On the 14/07/90 we released our
  18. ]first demo (can we call this a demo?) :
  19. ]"The Starman Sound Demo!.." 
  20. It was a two disks soundtracker demo...
  21.  We contacted Aggression in Finland, it
  22. was one of our first contacts oversea.
  23.  
  24.  Then in October 90, Tls got  a minitel
  25. and  started to have  new  contacts  in
  26. France. Then  during  a fair in Paris I
  27. met lots of guys and  also  Phenix  'le
  28. poulet legendaire' at  this  time  they
  29. were associated with TBC  and  produced
  30. intro compiles.Two weeks later, Starman
  31. went in Paris  because of another fair.
  32. It  was  the  first  time  we  saw each
  33. other.

  35.   We also had a new member  called  Doc
  36. (I'm not sure) but we  kicked  him  out
  37. later because he wasn't doing anything.

  39. ] In November, at the Megafun 1, Starman
  40. ]released his infinite sprites demo (you
  41. ]can see it in Phenix/TBC 10).After that
  42. ]he  continued  to  code  a   couple  of
  43. ]screens in Gfa we never released.

  45. [  In April, Starman started to code  in
  46. [assembler and started his famous vector
  47. [balls! and coded a little  screen  with
  48. [scrollers all over the screen.
  49.  
  50.  Meanwhile, a contact from the North of
  51. France joined the crew, he was a coder.
  52. The only thing he ever coded for us was
  53. a scroller routine like the DF  one  in
  54. the  Syntax Terror which bounces up and
  55. down  and  changes of color.  After, he
  56. joined Synchron on Amiga.
  57.                            
  58.  On  the Trans-Beauce 2, I met Jinx/DMA
  59. who  later  became a member of Synchron
  60. too. I also met Def Klf there and  many
  61. other guys.

  63. ] Before  the  Snork 1, I  released  our
  64. ]first compil  of  intros,  the  CD-A...
  65. ]The selector  was  really  a  very  big
  66. ]piece of shit..
  67.  
  68.  On the beginning of  July  91, Starman
  69. went again in Paris to pass some exams.
  70. He  already  had an  early  version  of
  71. the CD-B, and an  improved  version  of
  72. the vector balls.
  73.  
  74.  During the summer Def Klf sent me some
  75. intros  and  when  in  August I went to
  76. Starman's place in Avesnelles we relea-
  77. sed  the  CD-B,  we  contacted a lot of
  78. peoples. Many bastards like  ACF,  Sign
  79. of Four,  or  Final  Spacecoders  never
  80. answered us (fuck you!).  But I had new
  81. contacts in UK, Germany, etc..
  82.  
  83. I started to get some swappers  on  the
  84. minitel to swap our cd's, one  of  them
  85. was named ST Mad.. He  was  a  beginner
  86. in  assembler  and  when  he  asked  to
  87. join the group, our answer was yes..  
  88.  
  89. ] Right  before  the Monsters of Rock in
  90. ]September,   Starman   released   three
  91. ]more Cd's : D, E and F..
  92.  
  93.  On  Micro & Co. in  October 91, I  had
  94. a  little copy party on my  house  with
  95. some  members  of  Vmax  and  Fuzion. I
  96. met ST Mad for the first time there.
  97.  
  98. ] On  the  evening I released CD-G,  one
  99. ]or two weeks before we asked  Docno  if
  100. ]we could join the E.S.C.  On  the  next
  101. ]day we met him and  his   first  answer
  102. ]was no.
  103.  On  the  same day I also had a sticker
  104. fight  with  Fm and the team of  ST-Mag
  105. ( St-cnx, Vegetable etc...).

  107.  When I arrived the railway station  of
  108. Lille  for  the  Megafun 2  in  Nov. 91
  109. There  was  nobody  waiting for me..  I
  110. started  hangin  around and  I  finally
  111. met  Orion.   Judge  Dread/TSB  arrived
  112. a  couple  of  minutes  later and drove
  113. us  ( he's a mad driver!! )  to Mouvaux
  114. where the cp was tooking place.
  115. ] On  this  cool CP,  we finally entered
  116. ]the  E.S.C.  and  we  released  the TSB
  117. ]& TLS CD 1 a couple of weeks after it.
  118.  
  119.  Recently, I sent a screen to Snake but
  120. as SPY3 told me he was quitting the ST,
  121. I don't know if he will use it.
  122.  
  123. TSB should release four intro cds soon.
  124.  
  125.  Now, Starman almost left the ST.. he's
  126. now coding on PC. ST Mad  joined in the 
  127. Syndicate and I was thinking  of split-
  128. ting  up the group but ST Mad convinced
  129. me to wait a bit..
  130.
