THE LIGHTNINGS: THE STORY!
--------------------------------
[ by SLAYER/TLS
Well, Def Klf asked me to write about
us so here we go...
In June 90, a lamer called 'TLS' asked
one of his best contact : 'Starman' if
he would like to form a group with him.
And the group was born : The Lightnings
] At this time,Starman was coding in Gfa
]basic. On the 14/07/90 we released our
]first demo (can we call this a demo?) :
]"The Starman Sound Demo!.."
It was a two disks soundtracker demo...
We contacted Aggression in Finland, it
was one of our first contacts oversea.
Then in October 90, Tls got a minitel
and started to have new contacts in
France. Then during a fair in Paris I
met lots of guys and also Phenix 'le
poulet legendaire' at this time they
were associated with TBC and produced
intro compiles.Two weeks later, Starman
went in Paris because of another fair.
It was the first time we saw each
other.
We also had a new member called Doc
(I'm not sure) but we kicked him out
later because he wasn't doing anything.
] In November, at the Megafun 1, Starman
]released his infinite sprites demo (you
]can see it in Phenix/TBC 10).After that
]he continued to code a couple of
]screens in Gfa we never released.
[ In April, Starman started to code in
[assembler and started his famous vector
[balls! and coded a little screen with
[scrollers all over the screen.
Meanwhile, a contact from the North of
France joined the crew, he was a coder.
The only thing he ever coded for us was
a scroller routine like the DF one in
the Syntax Terror which bounces up and
down and changes of color. After, he
joined Synchron on Amiga.
On the Trans-Beauce 2, I met Jinx/DMA
who later became a member of Synchron
too. I also met Def Klf there and many
other guys.
] Before the Snork 1, I released our
]first compil of intros, the CD-A...
]The selector was really a very big
]piece of shit..
On the beginning of July 91, Starman
went again in Paris to pass some exams.
He already had an early version of
the CD-B, and an improved version of
the vector balls.
During the summer Def Klf sent me some
intros and when in August I went to
Starman's place in Avesnelles we relea-
sed the CD-B, we contacted a lot of
peoples. Many bastards like ACF, Sign
of Four, or Final Spacecoders never
answered us (fuck you!). But I had new
contacts in UK, Germany, etc..
I started to get some swappers on the
minitel to swap our cd's, one of them
was named ST Mad.. He was a beginner
in assembler and when he asked to
join the group, our answer was yes..
] Right before the Monsters of Rock in
]September, Starman released three
]more Cd's : D, E and F..
On Micro & Co. in October 91, I had
a little copy party on my house with
some members of Vmax and Fuzion. I
met ST Mad for the first time there.
] On the evening I released CD-G, one
]or two weeks before we asked Docno if
]we could join the E.S.C. On the next
]day we met him and his first answer
]was no.
On the same day I also had a sticker
fight with Fm and the team of ST-Mag
( St-cnx, Vegetable etc...).
When I arrived the railway station of
Lille for the Megafun 2 in Nov. 91
There was nobody waiting for me.. I
started hangin around and I finally
met Orion. Judge Dread/TSB arrived
a couple of minutes later and drove
us ( he's a mad driver!! ) to Mouvaux
where the cp was tooking place.
] On this cool CP, we finally entered
]the E.S.C. and we released the TSB
]& TLS CD 1 a couple of weeks after it.
Recently, I sent a screen to Snake but
as SPY3 told me he was quitting the ST,
I don't know if he will use it.
TSB should release four intro cds soon.
Now, Starman almost left the ST.. he's
now coding on PC. ST Mad joined in the
Syndicate and I was thinking of split-
ting up the group but ST Mad convinced
me to wait a bit..
[This is the story so far... don't write
[anymore to Avesnelles address, because
[we are not interested.
