  1. This is v1.3 of a little program I wrote for DOOM 1.2
  2. It will take your doom wad and change a few things. Make sure 
  3. you have a backup copy of your DOOM.WAD. Put DOOMSWAP in the 
  4. same directory as your DOOM.WAD and run DOOMSWAP. Doomswap 
  5. will allow you to select up to 40 of the things in DOOM and
  6. make them something else in the list. You can select 1 map
  7. of any game or the complete set of maps on any game or all
  8. maps on all three games. It can make all weapons and ammo 
  9. that are not shotguns and shells and make them shotguns and shells. 
  10. All blue bottles can be sargents, all armor bonus can be medikits 
  11. or stimpacks. This does not move anything or randomize it,
  12. it will do the exact same thing to every DOOM.WAD so it makes a
  13. good deathmatch system. When you go to change your DOOM.WAD you
  14. can also choose to make all the other things on the games or 
  15. levels you selected, into barrels. The other things are lamps,
  16. dead monsters, pools of blood, trees, stumps,etc. Once they are 
  17. barrels, you can reedit the levels and turn the barrels in to 
  18. anything you want. Turning all monsters to sargents and all extra 
  19. things to barrels and then into sargents, can get very crowded in
  20. the game.:-)

  22. DOOMSWAP is not a map editor, it will not move anything.
  23. If you want a good map editor, try Verda v2.0 it is a very
  24. good map editor and PWAD maker/editor.

  32. DOOMBACK is a thing backup and restore utility
  33. to allow restoring the original DOOM.WAD or make a copy
  34. of the changed DOOM.WAD things to update another player
  35. for cooperative or death match game, or to restore to at 
  36. a later date.

  38. It would be a good idea to take your original DOOM.WAD and
  39. make a copy such as DOOMWAD.SWP for a quick restore at any time.
