1) Our Windows-based File System Change notifier is being tested !
2) Translating the TBAV for Windows language file
3) Using TBAV-for-Windows with Windows NT or Windows95
1) Our Windows-based File System Change notifier is being tested !
------------------------------------------------------------------
To overcome the problem with Windows' 32-bit file access, we have implemented
a true Windows-based File System Change notifier module. Currently, this
module is being tested. After this test phase we will start distributing it
to you!
The problem with Windows' 32-bit file access is that the monitoring of file
I/O operations under MS-Windows by means of TBAV-for-Windows, or monitoring
file I/O operations in a DOS box by means of the TbScanX program will not
work correctly if you have 32 bit file access enabled.
For now, we advise you to disable 32 bit file access. You can do this by
means of the Control Panel application (in the 386-enhanced section), or by
starting MS-Windows with the following commandline:
WIN /d:c
Note that this problem only occurs when using the File I/O monitor in
combination with 32-bit file access. TBAV-for-Windows will trap the file
I/O activity of all Windows-based applications, or DOS applications with
16-bit file access.
2) Translating the TBAV for Windows language file
-------------------------------------------------
a) Those of you who want to translate the TBAV for Windows language file
should edit the file by making using of NotePad or some other
MS-Windows-based wordprocessor. TBAV for Windows uses the Windows
'SYSTEM' font for displaying text messages. The character mapping of
this font does NOT equal the standard ASCII character set (which is
exploited in DOS). The Windows character set can be viewed by means of
the 'CharMap' application, which is shipped with your Windows
distribution. The international characters in DOS and Windows are
listed below.
b) The detailed virus information (for example, the 'Anti-Mit' virus
displays "707 bytes; Activates December 1st, trashing the HD.")
cannot be translated; this information is always displayed in English.
The detailed virus information is stored in the virus signature file,
which is updated too often to let translators make changes to the virus
information text.

3) Using TBAV-for-Windows with Windows NT or Windows95
------------------------------------------------------
At this point of time, the Windows NT and Windows95 operating systems are
NOT supported by TBAV-for-Windows. Since these operating systems should be
downwards compatible, TBAV-for-Windows will probably work just fine. However,
we do not garantuee the correct working of TBAV-for-Windows under these
operating systems yet. The ThunderBYTE development team is working hard to
adapt TBAV-for-Windows so that it can be used with Windows NT and Windows95.
