  3.  This file contains our distribution policy and information on 
  4.  all products.

  6.  Open Windows has a simple distribution policy: You have 
  7.  permission to distribute our shareware in its original form as 
  8.  long as you:

  10.  * identify it as shareware (with an appropriate definition)
  11.  
  12.  * leave all intellectual property (copyright) notices in place
  13.  
  14.  ..and as long as we do not request that you stop.
  15.  
  16.  That's it.  We want the widest possible distribution, and don't 
  17.  want to stand in your way as long as you are honest with our 
  18.  mutual customer.

  20.  You may rearchive or unarchive our programs but please do NOT
  21.  change the compression method of the internal .XX_ files.  They
  22.  have been archived with Microsoft's COMPRESS.EXE and MUST remain
  23.  in this format in order for the included installation program to
  24.  work correctly.

  26.  The following 10 files MUST be included in the distribution: 
  27.  WINUPD40.EX_, WINUPD40.HL_, REGISTER.TX_, HELPFILE.WR_, BWCC.DL_, 
  28.  FILE_ID.DIZ, VENDINFO.DIZ, VENDOR.TXT, README.TXT and SETUPWU.EXE

  30.  Our normal distribution sequence is:

  32.  1  New versions are offered to our registered users and are
  33.     automatically shipped to new users registering an out-of-date
  34.     copy.
  35.  
  36.  2  New versions are posted on CIS in the WINSHARE forum and
  37.     America Online in the Windows forum.
  38.  
  39.  3  ASP distribution members are included in the regular ASP 
  40.     CD-ROM mailing.  This saves both of us money and effort; 
  41.     if you are not an ASP vendor or bulletin board member, 
  42.     please consider joining.
  43.  
  44.  4  Then, we send copies of major revisions of software to 
  45.     non-ASP vendors who have notified us of their interest.  If 
  46.     you are a catalog house, send us a copy of the catalog in 
  47.     which the program appears, together with a copy of the 
  48.     diskette(s) containing the program(s) you wish to distribute;
  49.     we will send you a copy of any major updates to our software.
  50.     If you run a bulletin board, send us a diskette(s) containing
  51.     the program(s) you wish to distribute, and your mailing 
  52.     address, and we will update the diskette and mail it back 
  53.     to you.
