  15. Space Explorer is a screen saver where various planets
  16. and space objects fly over the screen(the window of a
  17. space ship).  It provides sound effect when an object hits
  18. the ship. It also provide a optional background music when 
  19. the saver is enabled.  
  20.  
  21. What is NEW in this version: This version will allow you
  22. to adjust the distance between a planet and your spaceship.
  23. This means that you can almost "land" on to the planet if you
  24. set the Distance to its minimum. If you have a huge planet image
  25. with wonderful details you may see some "Life" (Being) on the
  26. planet. Most of planet overlaping is avoid so that you can get
  27. a better view of universe.  More space ships are provided by
  28. this version.

  31. There are several options available:
  32.   1). Collision -- The ship will be hit by a variety of
  33.       Space object such as meteors, Shooting stars,
  34.       space ships when this option is on. You can make 
  35.       your star trek safer by setting the frequency of 
  36.       collision to the minimum. 
  37.   2). Star War -- The ship will attach coming space objects
  38.       with its laser gun when this option is enabled. You
  39.       can stop the Star War by setting the frequency of 
  40.       shooting to the minimum.
  41.   3). Sound Effects -- Space Explorer will provide sound
  42.       effects for laser shooting and collision with this
  43.       option on. Music will be turn off when this option
  44.       is on.
  45.   4). Background Music -- You can enjoy a background music
  46.       when Space Explorer is enabled.
  47.   5). Import Your Own Space Object -- You can import up to
  48.       200 your own space objects in the setup screen.
  49.   6). Import Your Own background music --  You can import 
  50.       your favorite music in the setup screen.

  52. The SETUP.EXE will copy five files into your windows directory:

  54.  space.src      -- The main executable file of Space Explorer;
  55.  space.txt      -- Documentation file;

  57.  collide.wav    -- Wave file required for collision sound effect;
  58.  hi.wav         -- Wave file required for spaceman talk;
  59.  music.wav      -- Wave file required for background music; 
  60.  register.wav   -- Wave file for register;

  78.  Savervisor (V2.0 - A) - This is a COOL screen saver and wall
  79. paper 
  80.  manager. It provides:
  81.  
  82.   -  It appears like an icon that allows you launch a screen
  83. saver
  84.      instantly by a single click at it using RIGHT mouse button. 
  85. It can
  86.      be set to always at the top to increase your accessibility.
  87.   -* It can illustrate all the screen savers in your Windows
  88. directory
  89.      in different styles(ONCE, CIRCLE, and RANDOM).
  90.   -  It also works as the saver section of Windows Desktop
  91.      allowing you select, setup, and test a screen saver within
  92. its 
  93.      setup screen.
  94.   -  It provides a very strong wall paper management capability.
  95.      First, it allows you select a BMP file as your wall paper
  96.      from anywhere of your file system including network and CD
  97.      drives and provides you a preview of the selected image.
  98.   -* Secondly, it can walk you through the entire file system
  99.      including network and CD drives.  That is, it displays all
  100.      the BMP files in your file system one after another as wall
  101.      paper - You can see exactly how the wall paper looks on your
  102.      screen instead of a single BMP image(specially, when tile is
  103.      set). You can choose from either automatic or clicking to
  104.      switch images when BMP is illustrated.
  105.   -  It also provides some other function such as tile setting.

  108.  Note: You can use all the functions provided by Savervisor up to
  109.  30 times - then you have to register if you still want to use
  110.  it.  There are two ways to register Savervisor:
  111.       1). After register Space Explorer in Compuserve.  You can
  112.           use the Registration Code for Space Explorer to register
  113.           both Space Explorer and Savervisor. you will then 
  114.           receive limited functions provided by Savervisor.
  115.           (The functions above marked with * are not available 
  116.           if you register Savervisor with the Registration 
  117.           Code for Space Explorer.)
  118.       2). To enable its function completely you need to register
  119.           Savervisor using SWREG #4880 in Compuserve or send $15 to
  120.           the address below.

  122.  Why use Savervisor with Space Explorer?
  123.       Savervisor enable you to launch Space Explorer
  124.       instantly by a single RIGHT mouse button click.

  128.  Note:  For the best sound and view effects, a sound card
  129.         and 256 color are recommended.  Off or dim light will 
  130.         also make a significant difference in visual effect.
  131.         planet0 through planet4 are arranged to be displayed
  132.         as a huge object - please use large 256 color bmps
  133.         for them if you are going to replace them with
  134.         your own bmps.

  140. TroubleShooting:
  141.     -  Q: I have a multimedia system, with .WAV capability, and
  142.           in fact, I hear .WAV files with most every application.  
  143.           Why can I NOT hear sounds with your screen saver?  
  144.           (The Sounds option is grayed out, and I cannot check
  145.           it.)
  146.        A: The Saver disables Sound option if it does not detect a
  147.           sound device that it knows. You can enforce it accepts
  148.           you sound system by following steps:
  149.               1). disable (turn off) the saver;
  150.               2). open (double click at icon of) file             
  151.                   c:\windows\space.ini
  152.                   (assuming c:\windows is your Windows directory)
  153.                   in your windows File Manager;
  154.               3). change 
  155.                       EnforceSoundOn= 0
  156.                   into
  157.                       EnforceSoundOn= 1
  158.               4). save and close the file;       
  159.               5.) bring up the setup screen of the saver;
  160.               6). check (enable) field "Sound On";
  161.               7). click at OK to exit the setup screen of the
  162.                   saver;
