  3. If you have previously read electronic books 
  4. with the E-Z-Book Reader you may skip this section  
  5. by pressing ── to move directly to the book.

  8.                               HINTS FOR READERS

  11. 1. "F1," "F2," etc., refer to the function keys at the top of the keyboard or
  12. on the left side on some models.
  13.  
  14. 2. "1," "2," etc., refer to keys above the alphabet keys and on the numeric
  15. keypad.  When the keypad is used for numbers, the "Num Lock" light must be on.
  16.  
  17. 3. "Hot keys" are letters or numbers in parentheses, which you type to jump to
  18. hypertext or graphics.  Return to starting point with "Esc".
  19.  
  20. 4. If you type same the hot key again while in hypertext no harm occurs, but
  21. you will have to press "Esc" twice to return to your starting place.

  23. 5. For best display of graphics use a monitor of the VGA type or better.

  29. 6. If a picture won't display, the problem may be insufficient memory or an
  30. out-of-date video driver.  Determine the name of your video card and get the
  31. latest video driver program.  Most are free from CompuServe and other sources.

  33. 7. If you get lost in hypertext use "Esc" to return to your previous spot.  If
  34. you hit "Esc" while in a numbered chapter you will exit the book!
  35.  
  36. 8. Use F1 to display a help-box.  Try it now.  F2 turns AutoScroll on and off.
  37. F3 blanks and unblanks the screen.  Change chapters with ── and ── keys or
  38. right and left mouse buttons.

  40. 9. A portion of this book is encrypted and temporarily unreadable.  Obtain an
  41. "unlocking" password by calling  SoftLock Services at 1-800-763-8562.  Tell
  42. them you want to unlock product No. 30041, and give them your SoftLock ID
  43. number.  Have credit card ready to pay the fee of $1.50.  To determine your
  44. SoftLock ID type `P' now.  When you receive a password type PASSWORD (Enter).
