  18.                 Program Description
  19.  
  20.        GridCraft(tm) is a drawing program which works with a "gridded 
  21.     sheet" as a base. It was developed to the specifications of a 
  22.     production weaver who creates original designs for a drawloom.  
  23.     Since its original development, GridCraft was expanded to 
  24.     accommodate various types of craft designs that use grid sheets 
  25.     as a base upon which to work.  Included in that broad definition 
  26.     are cross-stitch, needle point, latch hook, knitting, weaving 
  27.     and beading designs.
  28.  
  29.        Through a series of set-up functions and switches the program 
  30.     can be customized to match the requirements of particular crafts 
  31.     as well as the personal preferences of the designer.  A large 
  32.     number of design operations can be easily selected by using a 
  33.     variety of methods.  The novice user can intuitively take advantage 
  34.     of the program's powerful design features, while "short cuts" are
  35.     available for the more experienced GridCraft users to allow fast 
  36.     completion of patterns.

  38.        In addition to drawing freehand, GridCraft also provides a full
  39.     complement of drawing functions using common geometric shapes and 
  40.     curves.  Editing functions let you easily select sections of a 
  41.     pattern to be moved, copied, mirrored, scaled, or rotated.  Entire 
  42.     drawings can be saved or, if preferred, parts of it can be saved
  43.     independently.  Any drawing or part of a drawing can be merged into
  44.     another at any location.  Viewing functions enable you to move 
  45.     around the drawing sheet, (which may extend beyond the size of 
  46.     the screen) and to work at any magnification.  A variety of output 
  47.     options let you print your designs as color coded patterns or as
  48.     numerical row and column data.

  50.        By using these various design functions to create, combine, and
  51.     manipulate drawings, you will be able to create your new patterns 
  52.     quickly, and easily test new ideas and patterns.

  56.                 Installation 
  57.        
  58.        GRIDCRFT.ZIP contains two zip files, all of which were zipped 
  59.     using Pkzip Version 2.04g. GRIDC_19.ZIP contains the program and 
  60.     installation files while GRIDDOCS.ZIP contains the documentation 
  61.     files. 
  62.        
  63.        Unzip GRIDCRFT.ZIP (using Pkunzip) into any directory or onto 
  64.     any disk you wish to use for the zip files. You will require 
  65.     aproximately 472k for the two files. Now unzip the file GRIDC_19.ZIP 
  66.     onto a disk or into a directory which can be used for install files. 
  67.     This zip file contains aproximately 700k so, for example, an 
  68.     installation disk might be created with the command "pkunzip 
  69.     gridc_19 a:\" assuming a: is atleast a 720k disk drive. Change to 
  70.     that location and type "install". The install program will then 
  71.     present you with choices such as printer selection and program 
  72.     location.

  74.        The documentation can be unzipped into any convenient location.
  75.     It contains two files: GRID.TXT, a dos text file, and GRID_51.WPS,
  76.     a wordperfect 5.1 file (formatted for a HP Laserjet IV).
