VGA Muck Men from Mars
Version 1.11

System Requirements:
====================

VGA compatible graphics card and monitor.
256k RAM
Introduction:
=============
You are Duke Skytripper, space explorer extraordinaire. While returning
to earth from a successful beer run to a small planet somewhere in the
vicinity of Betelgeuse, your ship was hit by a wandering piece of space
debris. Fortunately, you managed to steer your crippled star ship
towards a nearby planet. Drawing on all of your piloting luck, you
managed to land, er... crash your ship in one, er... several pieces.
After salvaging what you could from the wreckage, you set off across the
noxious swamp land that seemed to cover the entire planet. Suddenly, a
loud phawaumphing sound arose from the mire. Swinging around, you were
confronted by a group of hideous greenish colored slime-creatures. You
recognised them instantly as Martians. How they got to this backwater
planet you don't know, but one thing is certain. They are not happy to
see you.
Gripping your napalm blaster, you prepare for the first wave of the Muck
Men from Mars...
Game Instructions:
==================
To execute the game, simply enter VGAMUCK at the DOS prompt.
The objective is to kill all of the muck men without getting killed
yourself. There are two ways to do this. First, if two muck men run
in to each other they will become stuck together in a big glob of
quivering muck. The other way to incapacitate the muck men is with your
handy AG-46 assault napalm blaster. Unfortunately, it was damaged when
your ship crashed and will only recharge fast enough for you to get one
shot off each level.
The game controls are simple:
789
4 6 -- The cursor keys control movement.
123
F1 -- Engages your Blink-O-Matic teleportation device. The teleporter
is totally random, so user beware. You may teleport to a spot
even worse than the one you left!
F2 -- Fires your napalm blaster. This will destroy EVERYTHING in any
adjacent areas. Due to damage taken when your ship crashed, you
will only be able to fire it once per level.
F3 -- Toggles the sound on and off.
Esc -- Quits back to DOS.
Alt-H -- Brings up the on-line help screen.
Hitting any other key will cause you to stand still for that turn.
Scoring:
========
As Duke Skywalker, you recieve 50 points for every Muck Man you lure into
getting stuck. You also get a bonus 500 points for every level you
successfully complete. You do not recieve any points for killing Muck
Men with your napalm blaster as this is a cheesy and underhanded way to
destroy Muck Men. Any satisfaction gleaned from crisping Muck Men with
your napalm blaster is, however, yours to keep.
The high score file(s) may be reset at any time by typing RESETSCR at the
DOS prompt.
