  1.        Some notes about High-Res in Chasm.
  2. ======================================================
  3.    Chasm supports a variety of video modes depending on
  4. the available video card and VESA version. Standard mode is
  5. 320x200 and it is supported on all video cards.
  6.  
  7.    If you have a 1.x VESA compatible card with no additional
  8. drivers loaded you will get two additional modes:
  9. 640x400 and 640x480, but only with BANKED access to video
  10. memory. Against FLAT/LINEAR access this can be extremely slow.
  11. In this case we recommend you use any VESA 2.0 compatible
  12. driver. A good choice is UniVBE, a shareware product
  13. designed by SciTech. It provides support for VESA 2.0 for
  14. most present video adapters. Currently most new video
  15. cards have VESA 2.0 compatible BIOS built in, so you
  16. don't need to load any TSR drivers.

  18.    In addition to increase frame rate, VESA 2.0 provides
  19. the best list of available video modes such as 400x300
  20. and 512x384, that are a good compromise between speed and
  21. graphics quality. We do not recommend set modes with
  22. YResolution highest then XResolution (320x400, 360x480).
  23. Proportional modes always gives better quality for it's
  24. decrease of frame-rate.

  26.    You can set the video mode, using "Video Mode..." in the Options
  27. menu. In the command line use command -vmodeN, where N is the
  28. desired video mode number in Video modes list.
