Introduction
------------
Welcome to SkyMap v1.3, the latest release of what will become, with
*your* help, the finest astronomy program available for Microsoft Windows.
Note that SkyMap will only run under Windows 3.1 or later - it will *not*
work with Windows 3.0, I'm afraid.
In this ZIP archive file you should have the following files:
README.1ST This file!
REGISTER.TXT Registration information.
HISTORY.TXT SkyMap release history.
SKYMAP.EXE The main SkyMap program.
SKYMAP.HLP The program's on-line help file.
SKYMAP.TXT The SkyMap manual, in plain ASCII format.
CTL3D.DLL 3D control library.
MWSPIN.DLL Spin button control library.
MSDNTB.DLL ToolBar control library.
In addition to these files you will also need the essential data files in
"SKYMP13B.ZIP". You may also wish to install the optional data files in
"SKYMP13C.ZIP".
To install SkyMap, simply copy all the files into a directory - it's as
easy as that!
To find out more about SkyMap, please read the manual, or look at the
on-line help system (they both contain the same information).
Legal Stuff
-----------
SkyMap is *not* free software, it's "ShareWare". You can try it out for a
reasonable period of time - I would suggest 30 days. If, after this period,
you find it useful, you must either pay the registration fee or delete the
program from your hard disk. Registering SkyMap will give you a much larger
star database and a printed manual, and will give ME the incentive to carry on
developing the software!
Feel free to distribute this shareware version of SkyMap in any way you
like, as long as you distribute the original ZIP archives, and keep all
the file together. I'd like it to get to as many people as possible!
And Finally.....
----------------
Thank you for trying out SkyMap. As I said at the start of the file, my
humble (!) goal is to make SkyMap the best astronomy program around for
Microsoft Windows. The only way I can do that is by finding out what
people would like to see added to (or taken away from!) the program.
My address (both e-mail and surface) is contained in both the manual and the
on-line help. PLEASE do let me know what you think of the program.
I look forward to hearing from you!
