This software, Softerm Plus for OS/2, is the upgrade for Softerm Custom that
is bundled with your OS/2 2.0 and OS/2 2.1. IBM failed to include this
planned upgrade in OS/2 2.1, and many people's patience have run out. So,
Softronics is making this upgrade for Softerm Custom available on bulletin
board systems worldwide.
While we were at it, we included some terrific additional features from our
commercial Softerm products, such as DEC VT340, VT240, and VT220 terminal
emulations, ZMODEM, IND$FILE, and CompuServe file transfer protocols, a
full-featured script language, auto-detect file transfer, and a dynamic-sizing
character font for session windows. The DEC graphic terminal emulations
(VT340 and VT240) are found only in high priced communications software,
usually costing from $300 to $500. ZMODEM, the popular file transfer
protocol, has been the most requested feature from Softerm Custom users.
Softerm Plus takes full advantage of OS/2 by letting you start multiple
simultaneous sessions without executing additional occurrences of the
program. Each of your simultaneous sessions can be viewed in its entirety
with Softerm's dynamic-sizing character font that enlarges or reduces the
image in the session window as you resize it; a very small window gives a
very small view of the whole screen.
As of August, 1993, a bug introduced in OS/2 2.1 causes a hanged state to
occur when users exit Softerm Custom with the displayed message box reading,
"Copying Database to Backup." This version of Softerm Plus contains a
work-around solution by removing the message box.
Please feel free to communicate with us through the Softronics' newly
expanded BBS at any time. You will find a variety of forums, software,
entertainment, and the latest updates for the Softerm product line. All
of our latest product literature can be FAXed to you by contacting the
BBS. The BBS is free of charge and always up-to-date. You can connect
to the Softronics' BBS by simply starting the session named
"Softronics BBS" in the Softerm Plus Session Manager (719-593-9295).
We hope you enjoy using Softerm Plus for OS/2. Our goal is to give you the
most powerful communications software in today's market. We are constantly
adding new features and functionality to our Softerm products; so check the
Softronics' BBS periodically for future enhancements. If you have any
suggestions you'd like to pass along to help us achieve this goal, we are
eager to hear from you. We want a long-term association with you.
