Revision V1.00:
1. 1st Edition of C-5 "Galaxy". 1-colored fuselage due to FS4/AAF limitations.
Design with 182 parts at Multiplayer rate of 261%. FS4/AAF has problems to
handle such large dimensioned aircrafts. Therefore various parts had to be
devided into smaller sections.
USAF specific notes :
None
General Notes :
The Lockhhed "Galaxy" is the worlds 3rd largest transport aircraft, just behind
the Antonov An-225 "Cossack" and An-124 "Condor". "Galaxy" can carry up to 345
fully equiped troops on two decks, or a total of 120'000 kg freight over more
then 4'700 km. First flown in 1986, as C-5A the Galaxy went into service in 1970.
76 aircrafts form 4 sqadrons in the USAF Military Airlift Command. Cruising at
864 km/h, the Galaxy has a maximum-fuel range of 10'460 km. All "Galaxies" have
been retrofitted with a new, reinforced wing. The USAF received an additional 50
aircrafts, called C-5B, an updated version which is externally similar.
This aircraft is not for FS4 multiplayer use.
This aircraft is for use with FS4 and AAF only.

FS4 Performance and Guideline :
Although I had big problems to find enough data's, numbers or blueprints for
this aircraft I feel to be very close to reality. (Any figures found from
anybody would be appreciated to be send to my home adress !). Having talked
with experienced airline pilots I tried to implement the following charach-
teristics into the SIM file :
Takeoff :
V1, takeoff decision speed............................. 110 kts
Vr, rotation speed....................................> 120 kts
V2....................................................> 135 kts
Takeoff run (FS4).................................... 8'000 feet
Takeoff Settings :
- Flaps 30
- Max power
- Hold FS4 aircraft with brakes until power > 90%
- Maintain climb-rate at approx 1'500 ft/min, total flap retraction 170 kts
Cruise Settings :
-Maintain pitch of 0 deg, use power as needed according speed
Landing :
Vref, basic minimum operating speed, full flaps.......> 100 kts
Vref, flaps 40...................................110 to 120 kts
Vref, no flaps........................................> 135 kts
Landing run (FS...................................... 5,000 feet
Final Approach Settings :
- Apply enough power up to 70% at full flap 40 and gear down to hold speed
- Apply 5 flaps upon deceleration 155 kts, 30 flaps at 145 kts, full 40
flaps at 140 kts. Trim nose up.
- FS4 SIM is set to return the aircraft from bank's into stabel horizontal
position to make it easier to fly within FS4.
Copyrights etc. :
This aircraft is designed with ASD / AAF and based on various publi-
cations. AFX and SIM files designed from the Author.
