Here are some hints for all who are starting to play TFX,
First of all: TFX is extremely hard to play, esp. in the most realistic mode. Besides of that nearly 20% of earth surface is in corecct cartography. German players magazines rated TFX as one of the best simulations ever made.
Here are some hints as far as I got:
1) Some of the ground targets are hard to spot. Avtivate GBU∩s or what you choose and use the MFD to see how the target looks like and compare it with your LTD (Laser-Identification; only available with GBU∩s). If you hit the right target a message will appear,
2) In many missions the send you off with too few fuel (around 3.000 pounds or so).
If that happens you have to locate a refueller near to your waypoints.
3) When playing missions there are a few episodes until its over. After you finished a episode the program will go on without giving a chance of saving the current game. When you try to quit the game by <shift Q> you∩ll be rated as shot down, deserted or somethong else. The hole score is spoiled and you are KIA. MIA or BUSTED. SO: if you won an episode (every time you touch down and a new theater will begin the PRG saves the game) push your reset button, step out, save the game and start over again.
3) Save very often! Make a SAV directory! (MD c:\tfx\SAV)The file SAV.BAT (saving successful games) and SAVBACK.BAT - assuming your directory is C:\TFX - (restoring successful games) will help you if you are not firm with batch-programming ( old hands will lough <g>)
At the end: for all who have problems with the excercise missions there is a pilot file so you can start with the "real" gameplay.
BUT: excercise missions are very good, sometimes better than the others. If you are not too impatient please play them.
I∩d like to get in contact with TFX-players to exchange experiences!
Please write via MAIL (only basic costs!<g>)if you want.
