  1. These are the files needed for Dave's DOOM! menu system:

  3. 1.BAT
  4. 2.BAT
  5. 3.BAT
  6. 4.BAT
  7. DIAL.BAT
  8. DOOM.BAT
  9.  
  10. Copy all files except DIAL.BAT into the root directory
  11. on the drive to which you installed DOOM!. Copy DIAL.BAT
  12. into your DOOM directory. To start doom, just type DOOM
  13. at the dos prompt in the root directory and follow the menu
  14. instructions.

  16. *NOTE*
  17. This program will automatically set up a modem link that will support DOOM!
  18. in 2 player mode. The initialization strings that are used should set up a
  19. data only link with most modems. If you experience problems, try a different
  20. init string in 2.BAT and 3.BAT. These can be edited with any text editor. 
  21. Check your modem users manual for info on the proper init string for your
  22. modem. You must have a normal connection with no error correction or data
  23. compression! Otherwise, the game will be jerky at best and at worst won't 
  24. run at all! The default is AT\N. The default COM port is 2. If you are using 
  25. a different com port you will have to change this to the one you are using.
