aren't we getting a bit out of hand here? for the price of the AWE32 and
waveblaster, one can easily get a GUS to do the digitised sounds and
a korg or scc-1 at the least to do the midi music. can the waveblaster
compete with the better synths? doubt it. so it boils down to the
AWE32 vs the GUS for digitised sounds. are we looking at a stalemate in
that field? i presume the drivers for the AWE32 are based on the GUS
drivers in that it does its mixing on board? otherwise you can forget
the digitised comparisons. me friend's SB Pro slowed down like heck with
only 3 voices enabled while i was flying along with the full 8 voices
without any slowdowns on essentially similar 486/33's.

see which is better... Should we all sample it at 16 bit and 44.1? (Maybe

wwhich completely defeats the purpose, no? the original post was about
letting other SB users hear the GUS. so now you're restricting it to
SB16ASP and AWE32 owners. fun. might as well sample it at 48kHz with
the GUS Max and ADPCM. where would that lead us?
