DOOM runs fine under OS/2 VDM with the following exceptions.
v 1.1 only version of DOOM that will run with sound enabled
*works great with SBPRO
v 1.2 and up. None of these versions will run with sound enabled
(in the DOOM setup).
1.x Must disable joystick in DOOM setup. (Trust me, mouse plus
keyboard makes for better gameplay)
1.x You can read the DOOM read.me (from DOOM SETUP) to find
recommended settings for your DOOM VDM. Follow them and
you should have no problem.
Basically . Set DPMI to NONE, Set DPMI Mem limit to 6
EMS OFF XMS NONE. ....Just read the docs that come with
DOOM ...Not all of the listed settings are needed but
for a newbie it would be best to stick with them. You
can experiment later.
1.666 Does not run at all in OS/2.
See a pattern? Oops, I am diverging.
