Hold on; this is very inaccurate. Yes, both are 32-bit chips.
However, a 486/33 and a 386/33 run at the _same_ clock speed: 33 MHz.
The primary differences are that the 486 has an onboard 8K cache, most
of its integer math instructions (and a few others I think) run in only
one clock cycle instead of two, and it has a few extra instructions.
The first two reasons above are why the 486 runs so much faster than
a 386 running at the same clock speed.
If you feel the need to flame somebody, fine, but at least get your
information straight.
You could get a good 4SX/25 with
local bus and put some RAM into it and have an excellent DOOM machine
for a pretty low price. If you like to kitbash, you could even upgrade
your old PC's motherboard...
