I purchased version 1.2 several months back. I obtained a copy of the
program that is supposed to patch a registered 1.2 game to 1.6.
A friend of mine who uses 1.1 registered because 1.2 crashes his machine,
was never able to play any episode above 1 because he could only run 1.5
as the only compatible edition around. Then 1.6 came out and he had no
problem.
I ran the set of programs and patches to upgrade version 1.2 to 1.6 and
tried it. It works. He ran the program to patch 1.1 to 1.2, then
patched his 1.2 patch to 1.6. His also works.
We both then used DEU to rebuild our DOOM.WAD file to add the contents of
162.WAD.
I am running version 1.6 as a registered edition. I now have
DEATHMATCH 2.0 capability for Episode 2 and 3, as well as the ability to
run patch wads.
I highly recommend 16REGVR2.ZIP for use in doing an upgrade of 1.2 to
version 1.6 and thus allowing a registered 1.2 game access to the features
available in version 1.6.
