  21. The following is a report direct from Rumor Central:

  23. The Power Meower received the following from an anonymous source who, for 
  24. unstated purrposes, would give no direct information but would supply only 
  25. vague hints WRT this lawsuit. He directed the Katt's attention to a recent 
  26. post in alt.games.doom by the president of a well-known shareware game 
  27. distribution company. This company has been much-discussed in a.g.d of late, 
  28. the source confided to the Katt. He notes that the president of this company 
  29. claimed to have played a pre-release version of DOOM II in a public message. 
  30. This anonymous source also made mention of the fact that id software, the 
  31. creators of DOOM II, had once been under the umbrella of this
  32. distributor but some time ago dissolved their association with this company; 
  33. rumor has it the breakup was a bitter one. The tipster tells that the
  34. distributor, sore at losing their star performers, stole the masters for
  35. DOOM II and spread them around the net, hoping to dampen sales for the
  36. new game. "Sounds like a clear case of revenge," hissed his hirsuteness.
  37. Although the perpetrator wanted to sign his handiwork with the handle 
  38. "RAPTOR," the higher-ups at the distributor feared this moniker to be too 
  39. revealing and thus was effected a last-minute change to "RAZOR" or somesuch. 
  40. Yet the CEO carelessly let the Katt out of the bag (so to speak) by
  41. posting about the game publicly in an international forum.
