Alright, I'm sure modem problems have sprouted up before, so I'll
add to them. A friend and I are playing Doom 1.6 beta over the modem.
We both have Practical Peripherals 14.4FXMTs. (he has an internal,
I have an external, with a 16550 UART)
Our modem-doom has been terribly inconsistent.
1. Many times, the modem will try to re-train, and when it doesnt
recover, it just stops the whole game.
2. Other times, we will get Consistency Failures.
3. Yet some other times, we get into DOOM ok, and the screen goes
black with the music playing.
4. We've tried 9600 and 14400 baud.
5. We've tried clean boots, all sorts of init strings, (including
the suggested)
6. We've performed zmodem ul/dl between each other, flawlessly
and without errors, at 100% efficieny.
7. I don't think that we've gotten 10 straight minutes of play.
I cant understand why everything is so varied.
If you've ANY tips, please let me know! Thanks..
