Hello fellow DOOMers,
I have just gotten a Gateway P590 with an Ensoniq Soundscape Wavetable Sound
Card. I have set the following options:
Base Port: 330
Wave Port: 534
IRQ: 10
DMA: 1
Sound Blaster Emulation: Enabled
Sound Blaster IRQ: 5
Sound Blaster DMA: 1 (hardwired to be the same as the first setting)
Sound Blaster Port: 220 (hardwired by the card itself)
I used setup to notify DOOM about all these settings. The music plays
perfectly (the music is AWESOME by the way, the card came with Altec Lansing
speakers with a subwoofer). But the first time a digital effect sounds a wierd
noise (which everyone says sounds like horses running) starts, and does not
stop until I quit the game.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? The manual for this sound card
says it won't work with games that require ADPCM. What is ADPCM and does
DOOM need it?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Tom Stacy
