Man, that drives me crazy! The AOL software automatically inserts it when
you post a response, and all people have to do is delete it, but they
don't. AOL even displays these Message of the Day windows, which pop up
when you go into the Usenet section and tells you about proper netiquette,
but it has no effect.
Anyway, in case you were wondering, it's the result of user stupidity, not
really AOL's fault. AOL has so many members who are just diddling around
with a free disk from a magazine that the more serious members are
swamped.
