The Sergeants are, IMHO, Sergeants. Humanoid, alive, and armed.
The Imps are, IMHO, creatures from the other side of the dimensional rift
breached by the dimensional transport pads being worked on when the initial
call for help was issued by the Mars base. As a matter of fact, IMHO, that
explains where all of the creatures we see in DOOM have come from.
That's not to say that I am correct, but that is how I define the game "I"
play. You define the game in your own way, as ID had intended, and could
include the un-dead if you wish.
I prefer to think of this as a science fiction adventure, rather than horror.
