I have to say that the most gratifying part of Sen. Lieberman's
hearing was the look on his face as he read off the names of two of
the DOOM skill levels: "I'm Too Young to Die" and "Hurt Me Plenty".
He seemed really concerned.
I'm not concerned about ratings per se, but I am concerned that
the giant distributors (walmart et al) will pull a Blockbuster
on us all and decide not to carry "NC-17" games. I for one do
not relish the thought of a future where the only game I can play
is "Boffo Bunny and Harry Horsey's Non-violent Self-Esteem Adventure".
The ray of sunshine, fortunately, is that the stranglehold of the
megachains on American commerce can be broken by the 'net and
mail and phone ordering.
