  22. Wrong!  If you create a new "alt" group without any discussion in alt.config,
  23. chances are that your group won't be created (or will be deleted soon) at
  24. some sites.  That's what happened for alt.games.doom.newplayers and other
  25. subgroups related to Doom.

  27. If you want to create new "alt" groups, you should really post a message about
  28. that in alt.config.  But I'd rather create a new "rec.games.id" hierarchy.
  29. There are two reasons for that:
  30. - This would ensure better distribution of the groups.
  31. - If the new "rec" groups replace the "alt" ones and people are discouraged
  32.   from posting in alt.games.doom after some time, then maybe they will take
  33.   look at the appropriate newsgroup before posting.  If we just keep
  34.   alt.games.doom and add new subgroups, then most people won't notice and
  35.   will keep on posting in a.g.d.

  37. If we want to create some "rec" groups, then we have to post a Request for
  38. Discussion, wait for replies, then post a Call For Votes.  This may take some
  39. time, but I think it's well worth it.
