All,
After seeing my office mate and my stepdad and myself slide all over
the place as they play doom, and after reading posts about people crushing the
toes of people with their chairs when playing doom, I realized we need a new
controller type: The Track-Chair. My apologies if this has already been
suggested.
Anyway, a slight spin in the chair would spin you quite far in doom, and
sliding around would induce strafe and forward movement. The mouse and
keyboard could be used at the same time in order to keep maximum playability.
Anyway, sensitive sensors in the rollerballs of the chair would allow the
action to be played instinctively. Sure, it's not a full body suit or
total encapsulation, but at work, people shouldn't get TOO overboard.
Of course, the virtua-helmet in conjunction with the Track-Chair would
be a dream come true.
Lewis
