Sad news all,
I am unable to commit more disk space to the infant2 archive. If someone is
willing to buy me a disk to devote to this purpose, I can still run it. If
not, then it has to go.
Not don't get into a sweat over this. It won't happen all at once, and for
sure it won't happen any time soon. Here is the deal. PLEASE read it:
The archive must be moved to a new host. I would like to ask for a volunteer
to host the site. The system this would go onto should:
1. Have about 500MB+ of disk space to devote to the archive.
2. Have a machine/network connection that can hold 50-80 users with a
good transfer rate.
3. Be able to install WU's ftpd.
4. Be able to install fsp.
5. Have 'root' access the the machine.
6. Be able to produce reliable backups of the archive.
7. Be willing to allow Barry Bloom to continue to manage the file system
in the Doom tree.
>From mimosa.astro.indiana.edu I will continue to maintain the Doom ftp
mail-server as well as the doom mailing list, although it will no longer
be for infant2.
I am sorry for this hassle. If all goes well, one day infant2 will be shut
down and the new site will be up. The date/time/place of the switch will be
announced well in advance.
All good things must come to an end. I really have enjoyed bring this free
service to you. I hope in the future I can continue to be a good net-neighbor.
