Every once in a while when DOOM goes to load a sound sample or a new area
that is not in memory at the time, my system will pause for a second or
more. I realize that there will be a slight pause when it loads new data,
but it seems to be taking way too long. I am running on a Pentium 60 with
8 megs of ram. The pause on the 486DX/66s at my work is hardly noticable.
Anyone have any ideas? My hard drive is not fragmented and it had an
average ssek time of about 15.0ms.
thanks
