  24. Actually, the #1 doesn't mean "greatest."  When they released their
  25. first shareware game (and all shareware games that they release), the
  26. programmers put a #1 as the first 2 digits of the file name.  This
  27. allows the file to appear at the top of a file listing on BBS's (if
  28. their files are sorted).  If you call Software Creations and download
  29. any Apogee game (they are a free download by the way, you only pay LD
  30. charges if not local), you will see that it begins with #1, i.e.
  31. #1bs21.zip, #1hocus.zip, etc. if you get this file on another BBS or
  32. from an ftp site and it doesn't have #1 at the beginning, then it has
  33. been rezipped by someone and won't have the correct Authentic
  34. Verification number - it could contain a virus, or a hacked version of
  35. the game.
  36. BTW, Software Creations is going to get internet service (ftp, gopher,
  37. finger, telnet, etc.) for paying members.  They haven't decided whether
  38. or not you will be able to telnet from another BBS or internet site
  39. though.
