If you wanna play nightmare and cheat use the following command line
parameter :
doom -respawn
This is probably more versatile than using nightmare mode because you can
choose any skill level you want and the monsters of only that skill level
will re-appear. The normal cheats work fine this way and it's great fun
blasting all the monsters over and over again. Unless, of course some
people may get sick by seeing all the bodies and guts all over the place. I
find that using -respawn at the first skill level is fun without cheating.
