Hmm, when you say you're using Win for Workgroups, I hope you're not saying
you're running doom within Windows. But assuming that you're not.. make
sure you're not running QEMM.. or better yet, don't even run EMM386 (or
Himem.sys for that matter) Just load your mouse and network drivers.
I've had the same problems you're encountering when I was using QEMM.
(Though for some reason, not all of the time)
