DGB-D>To the guy who did aliens: I just wanna know why after spending obviously
DGB-D>many hours making meshes etc with 3d studio to create the doomgraphics wh
DGB-D>did he waste all th effort by assigning such crappy textures to them. Ali
I thought they were pretty true to the way they looked in the movie.
DGB-D>would be MUCH better with improved texture mapping and some varietty
DGB-D>incolour. the grap[hics may havc god shape etc but they look crap in the
DGB-D>colour and textures. I've used 3d studio enough to know that this kind of
DGB-D>thing can easily be improved with just 5 miutes more work. Surely he coul
DGB-D>t have been in that much of a hurry to get them out. There's some really
DGB-D>good skin textures etc supllied with 3d studio and these would have looke
DGB-D>awesome rater than having boring single colour shaded aliens.
Maybe he was limited to the palette in the game. In my limited
experience with patching wall textures, I found that the palette is
pain in the ass to work with. I start out with a texture in 256 colors
that looks awesome. Then I insert it into the game and find that the
textures look terible because the colors have shifted. Once I figured
out how to adjust the palette, it looked better, but not even close to
the quality of the original.
Anyway, I think the sound is what really made the game. Walk into a
room and "Lets rock!" or "Game over, man". Excellent.
