Havoc,
That hole you see in the wall is the result of the DEU node builder. Try
a third party node builder (BSP is a good one) The one I have works under
windows and does a nice job.
As far as line def lengths go, no. I don't think DEU will let you "type
in" a length. You must move the vertex!
