Very good. The key (no pun intended) is to have all the necessary keys in
reach of the left hand. Most of the top players use some arrangement like
the above. The important keys are speed, left/right strafe (f*ck the alt
key), backwards (cannot be done on two button mouse), and open doors. I use
a=backup, s=speed, d=left strafe, f=right strafe, space=doors. I could as
easily use q,w,e,r and could probably reach the weapon keys even easier.
I want to point out the reason for my particular hand arrangement on the
keyboard. Place all four fingers on the keyboard and notice which finger is
hardest to lift. Most people have a hard time lifting the ring-finger. As
a result, I use my ring-finger for speed since I never let up on the speed
key anyway. The other fingers are easier to lift when necessary. I guess
my only weakness is lack of access to the tab key for the map, but in most
deathmatches, I know the map well enough that this isn't a factor.
Keep on dooming,
