Disguise.deh by Steve Sanbeg July 21, 1994
Disguise patches: make bosses look like other creatures, give
troopers chainguns...
Well, I've finished the pack. I'm including the patch at various
stages of development. Here are brief descriptions, in chronological order.
spidposs.deh:
The first one, I edited out some of the spider's frames, and then
changed the sprites to make it look like a trooper. I left in the
mechanical walking noises, because i like them. Besides, you need to
keep track of him.
sposs2.deh:
An extension of spidposs.deh, 150 HP troopers with chainguns, who
drop 200 HP troopers without chainguns.
sposs3.deh:
Sped up the weapons on stroo.deh. punch & shotgun --> full auto,
pistol --> ½ speed chaingun.
cybrplay.deh:
I didn't know what to do with the cyberdemon, so by request i made it
look like a marine. The two were basically compatible, i just had to
change the sprites. Again, i kept the mechanical noises, and used
the player's death (actually explode) frame sequence.
cyb&spid.deh:
combination of spidposs.deh and cybrplay.deh
disguise.deh:
The end result. spider --> trooper, cyber --> marine,
100HP troopers with chainguns, this time they also drop chainguns.
Weapons sped up. You can pin the cyberdemom/trooper with full auto
shotgun, and keep shooting till his head pops off. :-)
These patches, of course, require dehacked to work. to use, type:
dehacked -load disguise.deh
or, to be safer:
copy doom.exe mydoom.exe
dehacked mydoom.exe -load disguise.deh
then run mydoom.
Thanks to Id, for creating Doom, Greg Lewis(Tree) for DeHackEd, and Dan
Lottero for the DeHackEd docs. Send me any questions or comments.
Have fun!
