  3. Slackware 2.2.0 is released.  100's of little things were changed, but careful
  4. logs weren't kept.  If they had been, you probably wouldn't see this released
  5. for a few more months, so...

  7. Some new features: Linux 1.2.1, gcc-2.6.3, libc-4.6.27, and XFree86 3.1.1.
  8.  
  9. I'd like to thank the guys @Walnut Creek for providing hardware for the
  10. Slackware project, and for allowing me the time to get everything "just exactly

  141. Slackware 2.0.2 is released.  New features include the 1.1.54 kernel, XFree86
  142. 3.1, and XView3.2p1-X11R6.  I've recompiled all the X applications I could to
  143. use the new shared libaries from XFree86 3.1.  About the only thing that wasn't
  144. recompiled was Interviews 3.1... if anyone has any luck with that, please let
  145. me know.

  147. The old libraries from XFree86 2.1.1 are retained for backwards compatibility.
  148.  
  149. BTW, some people have run into trouble with the floppy drivers
  150. in this new kernel.  I was one of them, actually, but solved my problem
  151. by switching to a different controller.  You might want to hang on to
  152. your old kernel just in case.  If you do run into trouble with the
  153. floppies, please be patient.  Some new alpha floppy patches were just
  154. released this morning, so something _is_ being done.

  506. kernel versions as last time since I haven't had much luck with the floppy
  507. drivers in more recent kernels. I'm sure this will get worked out in the not
  508. too distant future, though.

  511. changes made that, once again, it wasn't really practical for me to waste any
  512. time trying to document all of them. Take a look around, and most of the changes

  1179. This is the promised big upgrade that fixes most of the reported problems
  1180. with the new version of Slackware. Note that there is no longer a color12
  1181. disk - there wasn't enough room. I may eliminate some of the features and
  1182. bring it back in the future. For instance, it would be easy to make a color12
  1183. without international keyboard support. (I know that wouldn't make everyone
  1184. happy, but...) Another option is to make some more bootdisks that allow you
  1185. to boot a 3.5" disk in the second floppy drive. Again, not everyone has a 
  1186. 1.44MB drive. But, rest assured that I'll do what I can.
  1187.  
  1188. Anyway, these are the files that comprise the latest upgrade. If you downloaded
  1189. soon after the initial 1.1.2 release, you should check the filesizes of your 
  1190. other disks as well and upgrade anything that needs it. (Including the disk??
  1191. maketag, and other seemingly insignificant files)
  1192.  
  1193. NEW FEATURE: Support for the UMSDOS filesystem. That's right - if you have 8
  1194. megabytes or more of RAM, you can try Linux out on your DOS partition with
  1195. *no repartitioning required*! You can install anything from a 12 megabyte
  1196. minimal system to the full 140+ megabyte release. You can also make swapfiles
  1197. on the UMSDOS partition once the system is running.
  1198.  
  1199. I hope this will be a stable release. I've given it about 2 days testing, and
  1200. it seems greatly improved, especially the new networking utilities. My thanks
  1201. to everyone involved, especially Florian  La Roche, Alan Cox, and (of course)
