Hey all!
This is a little lib which contains some new air-to-ground weapons
for ATF 1.14 (won't work with the unpatched version - not sure about
compatibility with NATO fighters). They are the begginings of a big
lib for ATF I'm working on, but I thought I'd put these up so people
can spread a little xmas cheer on the bad guys. You can import this
lib into ATFTK if you want, and tinker with the weapons. If you
get a more realistic weapon, please mail me and let me know.
To install the library, just copy the file 0.LIB into your
ATF directory, and start the game up as normal. The new weapons
and MERs should now be available at the weapons menu.
The new weapons are:
M117 750 lb. GP Bomb
--------------------
Used by the USAF in earlier days. It is essentially a 750 lb Slick.
Useful for planes with a smaller bombload, as it fills the gap between
500 pounders and the 2000 pounder.
Mk. 83 1000 lb. Slick
---------------------
Used by the USN. It is similar to a regular slick, but the body is blue.
It also plugs the gap between the 500 and 2000 pounders (the M117 was not
used by the navy).
AGM-12B Bullpup
---------------
The granddaddy of the Maverick. It is a visually guided rocket, with a hefty
warhead, about 75% as destructive as a Mk. 82. The bullpup needs
guidance from the launching aircraft, so don't break lock once you launch.
It is electo-optically guided, so neither laser nor radar is needed. This
weapon was used with the F4, F100, A4, F8, P3, and F104, both in the USA
and Europe.
AGM-62 Walleye
--------------
Hailed (in 1969) as "the most accurate and effective air-to-surface
conventional weapon ever developed anywhere" by the USN, The Walleye was
a precursor to the LGB. It is EO-guided, and has a range of 16 miles. The
warhead is 1000 pounds. The launching plane does not need laser or radar.
Other than these new weapons, I have also added MERs (multiple ejection
racks) for most other bombs, following from Vark111's (Vark111@aol.com)
example. A MER is simply a gizmo that allows you to carry more than one
bomb on a hardpoint. This solves the problem of not having enough
ordnance even though you have enough weight to spare on board. At the
end of this file is a table of the MERs I have added.
I hope this lib will help you to blast lots of little helpless pixelised
enemies into smithereens, and that you'll have a whale of a time doing it.
If you have suggestions or whatever, please
mail me at thesickpuppy@geocities.com. Also feel free to drop by my USNF/
ATF page at http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/9390/usnf.html.
Cheers,
Dave "the sick puppy" Nunez. (28/11/1996)
