Film Plates Scenes
Included in the FIlm direcotry (Scenes) are three film resolution safe area
scenes. (See John Parenteau's Digital Cinematography column). These scenes
are labled SafeAcad.lws, SafeFlat.lws and SafeScop.lws. They show common
resolutions and safe areas arranged on a 12-field chart for flat, Academy flat
and Cinemascope film resolutions. The twelve field chart is an industry
standard way of breaking up a film frame into partitions to define safe
areas, etc.
For the Flat and Academy safe area scenes, there are three different areas
to be concerned with - 1.66, 1.75 and 1.85. These are represented by the
objects titled 166Acad (or 166Flat), 175Acad (or 175Flat) and 185Acad (or
185Flat). There is also a title safe area that is consistent for each
aspect chosen.
