You are responsible for extra phone charges if your phone company charges you to connect to an access number. Be sure the number you select is the best number for you.
You can change the number your computer calls to connect to EarthLink - just click the phone number on the Sign On dialog and select another number.
Access phone numbers for a location are listed in the order in which they will be dialed. Just drag a number to change its position in the list.
Having trouble connecting after typing your username or password? Check your "Caps Lock" key. Usernames and passwords are case sensitive.
Profiles allow multiple people to use the same computer and retain all of their own settings - great for families!
Spam Sentry filters effectively block out all that unwanted junk email - and they're easy to use. Click the Filters button in EarthLink MailBox.
If you're the only person who uses your computer, you can save time when signing on to EarthLink. By entering your password on the Sign On dialog and checking Save your Password.
If you need more mailboxes for others in your household, you can add a mailbox to your account for a small monthly fee. Run EarthLink Setup and select the Add a Mailbox option.

Your Personal Start Page, at start.earthlink.net, is a dynamic page that supplies you with headline news, weather, sports, stock quotes, search engines, and more.
You can customize your Personal Start Page. Just click "personalize" then select "layout" to reorganize the sections that appear on your page.
Click your right mouse button on the Toolbar logo to see a menu that lets you change the size of the Toolbar buttons and control how the Toolbar behaves.
You can rearrange your Toolbar buttons. Click the Toolbar button you want to move and drag it to a new location on the Toolbar.
If you close Toolbar and want it back, start it again like any other program. Just click the "Start" button, click Programs, click "EarthLink 5.0" then select "EarthLink 5.0 Toolbar."
You can add a new button to the Toolbar by dragging an icon from an open folder or from the desktop and dropping it onto the Toolbar.
You can change the icon or label for a Toolbar button. Just right click on the button and choose "Properties" from the menu.
Keep a docked Toolbar out of sight until you need it. This is handy when you want plenty of room on the screen for other applications. Right click the Toolbar logo and choose "AutoHide."
"Dock" your Toolbar on any screen edge to keep it out of the way yet accessible. Right click on the Toolbar logo and select "Dockable" then drag the Toolbar to the desired screen edge.
You can add a folder to the Toolbar and drag buttons into the folder. This lets you organize the buttons on your Toolbar. Right click the Toolbar logo and choose "New folder" from the menu.
You can choose a name and icon for your folder. Just drag any button, or desktop icon, and drop it on the folder. Right click on a folder to view its contents.
Make the Toolbar smaller. Just right click the Toolbar logo and choose "Small buttons" to shrink the size of the Toolbar buttons. The Toolbar gets smaller too.
The best way to connect to EarthLink? - Click the EarthLink 5.0 button on the Toolbar. Select your username, enter your password, then click Sign On. You'll be connected in no time.
You can group your Toolbar buttons into different Toolbar "folders." Right click the Toolbar logo and choose "New folder" from the menu. Give your folder a name and choose an icon for it.
Add buttons to the folder by dragging them from the Toolbar, from an open folder or from the desktop, and dropping them onto the folder.
Change the name on a Toolbar button. Click the right mouse button on the button you want to change, then choose "Properties" from the menu. Enter a new name for the button.
To remove a Toolbar Button, click the right mouse button on the button you want to remove, then choose "Remove" from the menu.
You can make the Toolbar always stay on top of other windows. Right click on the Toolbar logo and select "Always on top" from the menu.
If the Toolbar is always on top of other windows and you want it to stay underneath other applications until you need it, right click on the Toolbar and uncheck "Always on top."
If "AutoHide" in the Toolbar menu is gray and inactive, you can make it available by choosing "Dockable". Then drag the Toolbar to the edge of the desktop.
When set to "AutoHide" the Toolbar slides off the screen when you're not using it. Moving your cursor near that edge slides the Toolbar back on screen.
You can start the Toolbar each time you start Windows. Right click the Toolbar logo and check "Start with Windows" on the menu.
